Pine Needle Essential Oil

Pine oil is extracted from Pine (Scotch pine) oil, which is extracted from Pinus sylvestris of the Pinaceae family and is also known as Scots and forest pine.

This tall evergreen tree can grow up to forty metres high. It has green/blue needles, which are long and grow in pairs, the bark is a reddish brown with deep fissures. The cones are green turning to brown. Native to Eurasia. It is extensively cultivated for its wood, tar, pitch, turpentine and essential oil and was used by the Native Americans to prevent scurvy. Mattresses where stuffed with the needles to repel lice and fleas and the ancient Egyptians used pine kernels in their cooking.

Although pine oil can cause allergic reactions, it is very useful to relieve mental, physical and sexual fatigue, while having a cleansing and clearing effect on a room.

Pine oil has a fresh forest smell, is pale yellow in color and watery in viscosity.

Latin Name: Pinus sylvestris of the pinaceae family. Also known as Scots pine or Norwegian pine. Natural Touch Aromatherapy's Pine essential oil is dry distilled from the needles only to give you the highest quality oil. Pinus sylvestris is one of the safest and most used aromatherapy pine oils. A clear oil with a therapeutic, dry-balsamic, pine aroma.

Pine oil has invigorating properties and is found by many to be a stimulant. It is often combined with Eucalyptus for inhalations during the winter when there are a lot of cold germs around. It is also a useful oil to include in a sports blend for massage
